Ally Watson is the founder and CEO of Code Like a Girl, a social enterprise that provides girls and women with the confidence and tools to take on the world of code and re-imagine the future of women in technology.
After experiencing first hand the isolation and barriers associated with being a woman in a male-dominated industry, Ally founded Code Like a Girl in 2015 as a way to meet other women who code. She had no idea that one event would turn into many and become the humble beginnings of Code Like A Girl.
Code Like A Girl believes that “It’s simply not enough to have more women in tech – we need more women building tech” and that “it’s more important than ever to ensure that technology serves each and every person. And the only way to guarantee our tech delivers, is to ensure we have diversity within the coders creating it.”
Now, no one defies the computer science stereotype quite like Ally Watson with her charming Scottish accent, disarming wit and colourfully tattooed skin. Her unique and refreshing insights into the life of a female developer in a male-dominated industry allow for the delivery of thought-provoking and action-inspiring presentations that are deemed to spark positive change in the technology industry.
