David Astle is a man of words.
Whether he’s lacing them into fiendish crosswords for The Age and Sydney Morning Herald, or composing his weekly language column for the same mastheads.
Words and stories are also central to his popular Evenings show on ABC Victoria, a show he’s been hosting since 2019.
He’s also the “dictionary bloke” on SBS’ Letters and Numbers, as well as Celebrity Letters and Numbers, solving puzzles or sharing insights into the nuances and origins of words.
His dozen books range from Rewording The Brain – a practical guide to nimble thinking – to Puzzled: Secrets and Clues from a Life Lost in Words.
David is also an ambassador for Dementia Australia, as well as being the founding host of Winter Solstice, a major mental-health symposium/concert that began in Albury in 2013.
