Georgie Stone OAM is an actor, speaker, writer and transgender rights activist.
Georgie is well known for her role on Neighbours as Mackenzie Hargreaves. She has been part of the main cast since 2019 and in this role, Georgie is the first trans actor and character on the show. She has been nominated for Best Daytime Soap Star at the Inside Soap Awards in 2020 and 2022. In 2022, her documentary short The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and Sydney Film Festival, and was released to Netflix at the end of the year.
Her advocacy work in the media has driven progress in health and medical services, access to safe schooling environments and legal reform. Many organisations, from schools to the NSW Police Force, use her appearances on Four Corners and Australian Story for training and education. With determination and dignity, Georgie has educated everyone around her, from family to federal politicians. And she has shown Australia that trans youth can speak out, tell their stories, demand equality and gain acceptance.
In 2017 she was the recipient of the Young People’s Human Rights Medal, awarded by the Australian Human Rights Commission, for campaigning to change the law around transgender adolescents’ access to some medical treatments without the approval of the Family Court.
In 2018 Georgie was awarded The Victorian Young Australian of the Year Award for her advocacy work for transgender adolescents which has driven progress in health and medical services and assisted in providing safe schooling environments.
In 2020 she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia, with her mother, Rebekah Robertson for their work for transgender youth and parents. In 2023, Georgie was the Young Melbournian of the Year and 2024, she won the Victorian Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership.
